Several new North Carolina Swimming long course records were set at the 2022 NCS Age Group LC Championship meet in Greensboro this past weekend. Albert Smelzer of Swim GSA led the way with two record-breaking swims in the freestyle sprints. Smelzer bettered previous marks in both the 13-14 boys 50 free and the 13-14 boys 100 free. Sam Marsteiner of New Wave Swimming also broke his own record in the 13-14 boys 200 fly. Another individual record was set by Yari Brock of the North Carolina Aquatic Club in the girls 11-12 100 free.
There were also two long course relay records set earlier at the SGSA Eastern Invitational in June. Mike Rice, Carson Day, Thomas Greathouse, and Beck Armstrong of SwimMAC Carolina broke a record in the 13-14 boys 200 free relay, while fellow SwimMAC swimmers Shaelyn Shields, Avery Klamfoth, Georgia Howard, and Clarke Neace teamed up for a new record in the girls 13-14 200 medley relay.
