Three North Carolina Swimmers qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games at the finals on Tuesday night. Ryan Lochte of SwimMAC qualified for a relay spot with a 4th place finish in the 200 Free. Kathleen Baker of SwimMAC placed 2nd in the 100 Back securing her spot on the Olympic Team and Katie Meili, also of SwimMAC, punched her ticket with a 2nd place finish in the 100 Breast. Congratulations!
NCS swimmers have had several notable achievements to date, including semi-final appearances by Cammile Adams (SwimMAC) and Natalie Labonge (NC State) in the 100 Fly and a 7th place finish by Hellen Moffitt (NCAC) in the finals of the 100 Fly. Lochte narrowly missed qualifying in the 400 IM on Monday night when he finished in 3rd place. Tyler Clary (SwimMAC) finished 7th in the finals of the 200 Free and also finished 8th in the semifinals of the 200 Fly. Christian McCurdy (NC State) had a 6th place finish in the 200 Fly. Hennessy Stuart (NC State), Eugene Godsoe ( WOLF), and Justin Ress (MOR) finished 4th, 5th, and 6th in their semi-final heat of the men’s 100 Back but did not make finals.
