Kristy Kowal to speak at NCS Awards Banquet

North Carolina Swimming is proud to announce that Olympic Silver Medalist Kristy Kowal will be our guest speaker at the 2018 NCS Awards Banquet. The banquet will be held at the Burney Center on the campus of UNC Wilmington on the evening of October 6, 2018.  NCS All Stars and NCS Top Five swimmers in attendance will be recognized. Online registration for the event will be begin after the NCS All Stars and NCS Top Five swimmers are announced in early September.

Kristy Kowal won the silver medal in the 200m breaststroke at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.  She was also a world champion in the 100m breaststroke and as a member of the 400 medley relay in 1998, where she also won silver in the 200m breast.  In addition to multiple international swimming medals, Kowal broke eight American records and one world record during her remarkable career.

Kristy was also the first American woman to win a world championship in the 100m breaststroke and the first American woman to break the one minute barrier in the 100 yd breaststroke.
