The Sandhills Sandsharks Swim Team, located in the Southern Pines/Pinehurst area of North Carolina, one hour south of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, is accepting applications for the position of Age Group Coach. There is room for advancement for the right candidate. The club is a small team established over 35 years ago with approximately 80+ athletes. SSS hosts two Open Water meets each year.
Responsibilities:
o Oversee all aspects of Age Group squads and summer league; coach 5 days/week.
o Adhere to SSS’s philosophy of developing leadership and long term goals.
o Possess a positive, encouraging and energetic attitude towards all swimmers.
o Possess the strong communication skills required for working with head coach, parents, swimmers, the Sandsharks Board.
o Assist Head Coach with administrative duties as needed (5-10 hours/week).
o Communicate weekly with age group squads/parents and respond to all parent communication within 24 hours.
Qualifications:
o Minimum 2 years of successful competitive swim coaching experience with age group and senior level swimmers. ASCA Level 2 preferred
o In good standing with USA Swimming and all coaching certifications.
o Experience with team building skills (running meetings, individual and group goal setting, problem solving).
o Experience with Team Unify
o Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited institution
o Strong time management skills.

Job Duties
• Create and conduct workouts

Assistant Swim Coach- Raleigh Site
Central Raleigh
Part Time

Position Summary:

The Assistant Swim Coach will be assigned to one or more training groups depending on need and availability. They will report directly to their assigned group’s lead coach and ultimately to the Raleigh Site Head Age Group Coach. They will support their respective lead coach and uphold MOR’s mission of developing champion athletes and citizens through commitment to excellence in swimming.

Direct Coaching Responsibilities:

Help conduct team practices in water and in dryland in accordance with the group lead coach’s objectives and MOR’s guidelines and policies
Pay close attention to the athletes in the water and routinely offer technical instruction
Regularly engage with athletes on deck before, during, and after practice
Attend swim meets on a case-by-case basis

Secondary Coaching Responsibilities:

Substitute for lead coach as needed
May be asked to assist in set-up and break-down at MOR hosted meets
Attend team functions
Participate in recruiting efforts as needed

Other Responsibilities:

Be a positive role model for young people, abide by ASCA and USA Swimming Code of Ethics, and follow Safe Sport regulations
Remain current on all necessary certifications needed to coach
Miscellaneous responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

Established in 1977, Mecklenburg Aquatic Club (SwimMAC Carolina) is a nonprofit high performance competitive swim club that offers programs for people of all ages and skill levels. Dedicated to its mission of empowering young people to be champions in life through excellence in swimming, the organization has grown from a small competitive team to a premier swim institution, achieving a Gold Medal Club ranking in the USA Swimming Club Excellence Program. With two anchor locations across the greater Charlotte area, SwimMAC Carolina serves over 2,000 people annually through programs such as learn-to-swim for beginners, competitive age group teams, and adult Masters groups. REPORTS/RELATIONSHIPS:
The Head Coach reports to the Board of Directors and leads a team of competitive and instructional coaches and staff.

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
• Promotes and encourages a positive SwimMAC culture at all times while being an omnipresent leader, serving as a Coach of Coaches and the Head Coach for the entire competitive team.
• Serves as the primary SwimMAC coaching point of contact for competitive team coaches, the community, NC Swimming, and USA Swimming.
• Communicates the SwimMAC vision and administrative details to competitive team members and families; ensures competitive swimmers are registered with USA Swimming.
• Maintains a healthy professional relationship with the Board and collaborates on strategic planning, marketing, vision, communication, goals and fundraising endeavors.
• Collaborates with the Board on volunteer reward and recognition programs, annual club member survey, and other key initiatives.
• Prepares and presents the competitive team’s annual budget proposal in collaboration with the Executive Director; regularly reviews finances of the competitive program with the Executive Director and Finance Committee.
• Recruits, supervises, and mentors coaching and instructional staff; inspires staff to understand and employ the SwimMAC vision and mission in all aspects of their work.
• Conducts goal setting meetings, observes, and provides feedback to staff on a regular basis; plans and encourages continuing education opportunities at all levels.
• Creates and ensures implementation of a hiring orientation program for all coaches; complies and ensures club compliance with USA Swimming and SwimMAC policies (background checks, etc.).
• Requests and secures adequate pool space to run the necessary programs, practices, clinics, camps, events, and meets; coordinates with vendors and partners to establish and maintain safe environments for SwimMAC members, volunteers, and guests at SwimMAC programs, practices, clinics, camps, events, and meets.
• Oversees the maintenance of the updated competitive team roster and all meet results employing current team software.

REQUIREMENTS:
· Passion for swimming with a proven record as a coach with 5+ years of top-level experience (AG Division HC, Club HC, or above).
· Ability to effectively assimilate into the SwimMAC culture.
· Sound technical understanding of swimming and documented high performance results verified by performance; recognized in the swimming field as an exceptional coach; believes in a process for swimmer development, committed to curriculum development.

The Lead Group Coach oversees the development and progression of swimmers at SwimMAC by planning, communicating, and executing daily workouts and duties following SwimMAC philosophies, season plans, and procedures while creating a positive growth/challenging learning environment. The coach will actively communicate with their peers, direct supervisor, swimmers, and their parents. All coaches will work within the SwimMAC team structure, embrace the SwimMAC curriculum, abide by the SwimMAC policies and procedures and work with other coaches/staff to support the SwimMAC vision, strategies, and values which include the following: Teamwork, Commitment, Integrity, Development, Leadership, and Excellence.

Responsibility & Essential Job Tasks:
1. Abide by the American Swimming Coaches Association Code of Ethics, the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and SwimMAC policies and procedures.
2. Lead and coach SwimMAC competitive practice group and any assigned programs such as Swim School lessons, Junior Swim League, Homeschool Swimming, Teen Fit, Masters, etc.
3. Plan, prepare, and conduct team practices following the SwimMAC curriculum and season plan.
4. Develop, follow, and document a seasonal, weekly, and daily training progression for assigned groups. Maintain a practice log and skill review list for each assigned training group.
5. If assigned an Assistant coach, knowing the assistant coach's job description and utilizing them to their fullest potential while fostering growth opportunities.
6. Maintain an accurate swimmer and attendance roster to be reported to division lead and Associate Head Coach.
7. Schedule deck time 15-30 minutes before and after all practices to supervise swimmer safety, provide swimmer feedback and correction regarding technique, and build swimmer relationships.
8. Prepare and submit swimmers' meet entries on time.
9. Attend assigned swim meets, staff meetings, team activities, and events.
10. Recommend practice level placement and changes.

Program Retention and Recruitment
1. Proactively develop and maintain professional relationships with current swimmers through constructive feedback, encouragement, and general interaction.
2. Foster professional relationships with current swimmers to motivate, inspire, and retain swimmers in the program.
3. Proactively develop and maintain relationships with current parents.
4. Designate team parents and coordinate practice group team activities.
5. Proactively develop and maintain community relationships with neighborhood swim teams and other feeder programs to attract and recruit swimmers for SwimMAC.

Parent Communication and Education
1. Conduct Parent Meetings according to SwimMAC policies and procedures.
2. Communicate professionally with swimmers, parents, and coaches by promptly answering telephone calls and emails according to SwimMAC policies and procedures. Be available to swimmers and parents either during office hours or upon requests.
3. Establish relationships with parents through professional interaction before, during, or after SwimMAC events, meets, practices, etc...
4. Professionally respond to parent phone calls and emails as outlined in the SwimMAC Policy and Procedures Manual.
5. Inform parents regarding practice level changes before the conversation with the swimmer.
6. Initiate parent-coach conferences as needed.

5. Perform responsibilities as assigned in the current SwimMAC Administrative Duties list.
6. Contribute to the SwimMAC social media when warranted.

Job Title: North Lead Masters Coach

Department: Auxiliary Location: North

Job’s Supervisor’s Title: Masters Program Director (Kerry Lindauer)


Position Purpose:
The SwimMAC North Lead Masters Coach is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and quality of the North Masters program. Operations include: preparing workouts for the North Masters program, coaching practices, coordinating North Masters Assistant Coaches (" AC") as needed, leading North Masters ACs, monitoring Masters participants for billing, membership, or program needs, reporting program information to the Director, and communicating program information to prospective swimmers.

Essential Job Tasks:
Scheduling & Administration
The Lead Coach coordinates the practice schedule with HFFA, Moss Creek, Davidson, SwimMAC Assistant Head Coach, and Director and communicates schedule to North Masters participants and ACs. The Lead Coach will notify the Director if any equipment or supplies are needed for the program. Lead Coach monitors North Masters to ensure all are registered with USMS or covered under USMS 30-day trial membership. Lead Coach will be responsible for collecting Masters drop-in fees or account payments made by Masters swimmers on deck and delivering these to the Director or SwimMAC accountant. Lead Coach will inform Director of any North Masters needing to make payments or receive refunds, ensuring accounts are up to date. Lead Coach will follow all SwimMAC and SwimMAC Masters protocols and will ensure that all North Masters participants are instructed on all safety protocols of SwimMAC and the applicable facilities.

Staff
The Lead Coach coaches or coordinates the ACs for all North Masters practices. The Lead Coach monitors the North Masters AC hours and reports to the Director. The Lead Coach provides motivation, direction, and support to North Masters ACs. The Lead Coach is responsible for informing Director of the North Masters ACs' performance, skills, and needs.

Masters Practice
The Lead Coach will prepare practices for the North Masters to prepare them for upcoming events, provide essential drills and skills for swimming longevity, foster a fun environment for meeting friends and working out, and challenge the swimmers according to skill level. The Lead Coach oversees the practices, striving to place each swimmer in the correct lane or practice group. The Lead Coach will provide information to swimmers on other SwimMAC lessons and programs as needed.

Masters Communication
The Lead Coach provides direct communication to North Masters swimmers and staff about schedule changes and safety issues. The Lead Coach is a liaison between the Director and North Masters swimmers by acknowledging and addressing questions and complaints and providing feedback.

Training
The Lead Coach is expected to be aware of USMS events via the USMS Swimmer magazine, USMS website and email updates, NC Masters swimming website, and Director's information. The Lead Coach is encouraged to share this information with North Masters ACs and swimmers. The Lead Coach is encouraged to explore new training opportunities for coaches of adult swimmers and consult the Director regarding the same.

Marketing
The Lead Coach is encouraged to envision, foster, and report to the Director for marketing ideas and promotional campaigns to grow the Masters programs. The Lead Coach will distribute any registration or promotional Masters gear to the North Masters swimmers as necessary.

• 60 semester-based college credits (preferred)

Indirect Reports: Assistant Group Coach – Part Time

Position Purpose:
The Division Coach provides leadership, communication, and instruction to their directs and indirects within their division and works closely with their counterparts at other SwimMAC sites. The Division Coach is responsible for managing coaches' communication with parents and swimmers, entering swimmers correctly in meets/events (according to division philosophy), deck time, admin responsibilities, and incorporating the SwimMAC curriculum and policies.

Responsibility & Essential Job Tasks:
1. The division coach should ensure that their reports are educated, work within the SwimMAC team structure, embrace the SwimMAC curriculum, and abide by the SwimMAC policies and procedures.
2. To ensure SwimMAC curriculum, philosophy, and policies are being followed by providing day-to-day management of directs and indirects. This management includes setting expectations, developing markers to measure improvements, providing feedback/ follow up, and leading regular division meetings.
3. Conduct and contribute to regular performance reviews as well as annual written performance reviews for directs and indirects.
4. Collaborate regulary with counterpart Division Coaches and coaches of groups that feed into and out of the Division to ensure consistency within SwimMAC programs.
5. Attend appropriate meetings and report the overall health of the Division, including successes and challenges. Be aware of all groups' status and auxiliary programs that feed into and out of the Division.
6. Attend SwimMAC staff meetings. Communicate with assigned coaches in the Division who are unable to attend meetings. Inform those coaches about the content of the meetings, including pertinent continuing educational opportunities for staff members.
7. Oversee the Division's roster management for practice groups in their division, and manage the addition of new SwimMAC swimmers to practice groups within the Division.
8. Meet with the Director of Competitive Programming every month to report division threats, needs, successes, and future planning,
9. A Division Coach will be assigned to work as a Lead Group Coach and must follow the appropriate Lead Group Coach job description.
10. A Division Coach will be responsible for assisting in retention and recruitment in their division. Examples of that would be: 1. Foster professional relationships with all assigned swimmers, 2. Proactively identify and track impressive talent and uniquely motivated swimmers. 3. Develop & maintain community relationships with organizations, such as Summer League teams, High School coaches, YMCA, neighborhood pools, and other feeder programs.
11. A Division Coach will be responsible for incorporating division-wide parent communication and education.
12. Abide by the American Swimming Coaches Association Code of Ethics, the USA Swimming Code of Conduct, and SwimMAC policies and procedures.

The YMCA of Northwest North Carolina RIPTYDE swim team started in 1973 as the Winston-Salem YMCA (WSY) and quickly grew to become a perennial power in YMCA swimming; highlighted in 2000 and 2001 by earning back to back short course Women’s National Team Championships.

WSY/TYDE has served thousands of NC Triad-area youth over the years teaching them the basics of competitive swimming and the foundations of essential life leadership skills. This tradition of excellence has continued for almost five decades.

As a USA Swimming Level 4, Safe Sport-certified club, TYDE is based in Winston-Salem, NC and currently serves several hundred youth at 11 YMCA sites across seven counties in northwest North Carolina.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
This position will report to the Director of Competitive Swimming & Head Coach and will be a key part of the TYDE Staff Leadership Team. In accordance with the Association’s and Branch’s policies and procedures, Associate Head Coach assists the Head Swim Coach in providing direct leadership, planning, instruction, and motivation for all team members; dedicated to strengthening our community.

Some key responsibilities of this position will be to lead select group practices and supervise development of coaches. Additional responsibilities include recruiting new swimmers, fundraising, Y Annual Giving Campaign, working with the Head Coach in program development and to organize season practice and meet schedules, and assisting with the organization of home swim meets. This is a full time position. Schedule will vary based on practice and meet schedules. Evening and weekend availability is required in order to coach practices and support athletes at swim meets.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
A passion for swimming with a minimum of five (5) years experience coaching competitive swimmers while creating leaders in and out of the pool is required. YMCA experience preferred. A bachelor’s degree is desirable.

All YMCA full-time coaches who work with competitive swimmers must maintain current certifications in the following: Lifeguarding, Safety Training for Swim Coaches (including in-water), CPR, First Aid, and Y Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving and YMCA Legally Required Training or have ability to obtain within 60 days.

All coaches must also maintain active membership with USA swimming and appropriate certifications to include: Background Check, APT, Foundations 101 & 201, USAS Rules & Regs or have ability to obtain within 60 days. ASCA membership is a plus.

Must have thorough experience with HyTek Team Manager, Meet Manager, and Team Unify. Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Applications, and Daxko a plus.

Experience with multi-site operations is preferred.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and on the pool deck; remain alert with no lapses of consciousness; see and observe swimmers in the water and on the pool deck; meet any strength and lifting requirements.

The employee is required to stand or walk the majority of the shift; the employee is frequently required to push, pull, balance, bend, twist, squat, kneel and reach; the employee must be able to lift and or move objects up to 20 pounds. The employee is frequently exposed to pool chemicals and cleaning supplies.

The work environment includes the swimming pool with some possible outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones and photocopiers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
WET SIDE:
● Directly coaches at least one practice group: level TBD.
● Attends swim meets as directed by the Head Coach.
● Acts as team lead in supervising athletes at meets.

DRY SIDE:
● Overseas Management of Western Sites (Yadkin, Statesville and Wilkesboro).

● Assist in Team Travel Meet planning in partnership with team admin staff. Have ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including overnight travel.
● Assist Head Coach with staff trainings.
● Coordinate, track, and submit Y & USAS certifications for all coaches and staff.
● Coordinate, track, and submit USAS registrations/memberships for all competitive-level swim team members.
● Assist Head Coach in establishing seasonal practice schedules with staff leadership team.
● Take lead in working with YMCA NWNC staff to develop swim module/PE program for potential TYDE E-learning Academy program at select sites
● Attend and participate in all pertinent meetings (team, LSC, etc.).
● Assist in providing educational information to parents.
● Attend activities and events as determined by Head Coach.

MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary is looking for two dynamic coaches to join our team this summer. Our season runs for 7 weeks from May 11-June 30 with some pre-planning and meetings in late spring also required. Our focus is on fun, friendship, and building on the skills of our swimmers. We are part of the RACCSL, which consists of 5 competing Country Clubs. At the end of the season, we will have our Championship Meet at the Triangle Aquatic Center on Sunday, June 28th and an awards banquet on Tuesday night, June 30th to officially end the season. Coaches are allowed to continue offering swim lessons at our facility through the remaining 2020 swim season as a source of additional income. Coaches run daily weekday afternoon practices from 4:30-7:30pm for our MacDolphins team as well as morning practices three times a week for our final two weeks of the season. We have 2 teams- MacDolphins (ages 4-18) and MacMinnies (3-6), which practice from 3:30-4:30pm 3 days a week during the month of June. Our swim meets are on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings in June.
We are looking for experienced swimmers with a coaching background that love kids! Working on a 4 person coaching team, coaches will work with different age groups in training sessions to build confidence, gain techniques, and have fun. Each coach is responsible for working independently as well as on the team to further each swimmer's goals. Coaches will be in the water during practice giving guidance and support. All coaches must successfully complete a background check and show proof of current Lifeguard CPR/ First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain it by May 1st.

Develop and maintain season and quadrennial plans for the Sr Group that shows increased knowledge of the progression of our age group program and develops innovative techniques that show success and improvement. (This includes yardage and technique goals as well as how the group is being differentiated).
Responsible for writing a monthly report on the prior month’s success, needs for improvement, and goals for the next month.

TYDE

• Supervise the Aquatics staff including Swim Instructors, Water Fitness Instructors and Lifeguards
• Oversee Swim Lessons: program input, organizing class groups, scheduling and communicating with instructors, adjusting and supervising classes, conducting parent orientations, and marketing
• Identify staffing and training needs, hire, train, coach and evaluate staff
• Provide Swim Instructor in-service trainings for programming, customer service, and safety procedures on a bi-monthly schedule
• Provide Lifeguard in-service trainings for lifesaving skills, customer service, and safety procedures on a monthly schedule
• Monitor revenues and expenditures for Swim Lessons to assure sound fiscal control. Ensure Swim Lessons are operating within established budget and identify and perform cost control activities
• Review and maintain payroll for department staff
• Work with the Director and Human Resources to handle employee relations and discipline, with documentation, involving aquatics staff and patrons.
• Work with leadership and the Marketing Department to develop marketing strategy and campaign material for Aquatics (including articles, brochures, postcards, program guide entries, audience identification, etc)
• Continuously seek program/program adjustments to meet the needs of the community such as Home School Swim Lessons, Special Needs Lessons, etc
• Utilize excellent customer service skills, establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, members, vendors, and the community including answering calls promptly
• Organize and/or conduct YMCA Lifeguard and ASHI courses for internal and external customers
• Work with Aquatic staff to help ensure they are up to date on all required certifications, at all times and take lead on all LRT trainings
• Be available to fill in as a lifeguard or swim instructor as needed
• Work with aquatic and branch staff to organize the monthly lifeguard and pool schedules and make them available each month by the last week of the previous month
• Provide leadership and direction in the development and implementation of short and long range strategic plans
• Follow the quality standards of the Aquatic Department as specified by the Aquatic AOC.
• Function as Risk Manager for the branch, organize leadership roles, branch strategies and trainings on the branch EAP and ensure that and all departments incorporate safety training into their in-services
• Assist in the development and execution fundraising events for the Aquatics Department such as United Way and Annual Giving Campaign

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises part time and non-exempt employees and volunteers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing and approving timesheets; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; monitoring and updating all required staff certifications; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

MARGINAL RESPONSIBILITIES
