Junior National Results
Congratulations to SwimMacCarolina for a first place finish in Combined Team Scores at Junior Nationals over the Pleasanton Seahawks by 100+ points. The MAC Women and Men both finished second in Women’s and Men’s scoring. The MAC Women’s 4 x 100 Medley Relay, the Men’s 4 x 100 Free Relay and 4 x 200 Free Relay all took first place in the meet.
North Carolina swimmers fared very well at the YMCA Long Course Nationals at Georgia Tech.
Here are a few of the highlights:
Women – YOTA finished 3rd and TYDE finished 16th
Men – YOTA finished 1st, YSST finished 16th
Olivia Ontjes of YOTA won the women’s 100 breaststroke.
Joe Bonk of YOTA won the men’s 50 and 100 free and 100 butterfly events.
Sava Turcanu of YSST won the 1500 free and the 400 IM and was second in the 400 free.
YOTA men won the 200, 400, and 800 free relays.

Three NCS swimmers were selected for the Junior Pan Pac Team that will compete in Honolulu, HI, August 23-26th. They are Peter Brumm, Kyle Darmody and Kathleen Baker all of MAC. Congratulations and Good Luck!
The Third Annual Western North Carolina Open Water Challenge will be held Saturday morning on September 15 on Moss Lake in Kings Mountain, NC. This annual USAS event is hosted by Sharks Club (SAC). Events on the beach entry and exit, rectangular course include 5K, 3K, 2K and 500M “sprint” sessions. The layout provides an excellent spectator view of the swimmers throughout their Aquatic swim. This meet is a good venue for beginners and experienced distance swimmers and beginners.
