IMX Campers & Parents,
On behalf of our IMX Camp Staff, I am glad that you have all decided to attend this year’s NC Swimming IMX Camp and congratulations to everyone on earning a spot in the camp. This year’s camp will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center (GAC) on Saturday and Sunday, January 23-24, 2016. The 2016 IMX Camp is being sponsored by Speedo, so please support them when possible in return for their effort to support our swimmers here in North Carolina.
Also, a special thanks to Jonathan Watson, the NCS Camp Coordinator, for all of his effort and time in collecting and organizing everyone’s information for the camp.
We have a full camp this year with 118 swimmers and we have a great group of coaches that are going to be on hand to work with them over the weekend. I am listing them below so the swimmers can have an idea of who they should expect to see when they arrive.
Amy Faulk – Zone Team Coach (Camp Head Coach)
Matthew Lee – Stingray Aquatics
JP Merchant – Waves of Wilmington
Ashley Thompson – SwimMAC
Kristina Bond – Team Charlotte
Tramane Hall – TYDE
John Newell – YOTA
Vinny Pryor – Hillsborough Aquatic Club
Randy Jarman – ECA
Drew Oberg – YOTA
We will continue to plan and finalize details all the way up to the start of camp and our staff will meet the day before the Camp starts in Greensboro to make any last second adjustments. The IMX Camp athletes will spend plenty of time in the water covering a variety of skills and race strategies. This is a great opportunity for our swimmers to work with different coaches and experience practicing with advanced swimmers from across the state. We will also be doing some dry land work and other out-of-water activities such as bowling & yoga. Throughout the weekend we have checks and balances in place to make sure that the groups are supervised and that all swimmers are accounted for.
Please make sure that swimmers bring:
- Equipment Bags (what they normally take to practice)
- Clothes for dry land and yoga (swimmers can use one set of clothes for some things, but note there are several things that may require a fresh set of socks, shorts, etc.)
- Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.)
- Towels, suits and swim bag
This year we will be spending Saturday night at the Greensboro Airport Marriott.

Our transportation will be provided by Wesleyan Transportation Services. Meals and some snacks are included in the camp cost, so the only money your swimmer will need is money to spend at the bowling alley for additional snacks or games.
Please watch for the weekend’s schedule which you should receive next week prior to camp. It will give the general timeline for activities and events throughout the camp. For general planning purposes, you can plan on checking your swimmer(s) in at the GAC (1921 West Gate City Blvd, Greensboro, NC 27403) between 8:00-8:30am on Saturday morning.
Please help us to make sure that things flow smoothly by being on site by 8:15am to have your swimmer checked in by 8:30am which will allow us to get started on time. On Sunday, we will not be providing lunch, but we are having a Camp Wrap-Up from 12:00N-12:15pm which parents are welcome to attend. Pick up will be at 12:15pm and please be sure to check your swimmer out prior to leaving the facility. You may enter the GAC off of Patterson Street or Gate City Blvd but coming in off of Gate City Blvd tends to be a little easier.
Swimmers will be broken out into groups for practices and activities and will get rooming assignments Saturday when we go to check into the hotel. Please do not send requests for roommates as one of our main goals with the camp is to give swimmers the chance to get to know their peers from across the state and much of what we do will be designed to help promote that.
If you are interested in chaperoning and are registered with North Carolina Swimming and have done the necessary requirements, please contact me! It is always helpful to have additional help on site.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. I look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!
